Are green smoothies easy to swallow for Parkinson’s?

Let’s talk about green energy!

We've all seen from good old Popeye what an unbeatable effect spinach can have. It has given him strength, power and heaps of energy. So, let's do it like Popeye and even better.

Today we are mixing a green smoothie with spinach and other valuable ingredients that give you a lot of energy.

And we're a much more advanced than Popeye: by mixing the ingredients, the plant cells are already broken open for us and our body can access the valuable ingredients much more easily - that's what makes smoothies so particularly valuable.

I have created a recipe for you that is rich in minerals and vitamins, fiber and antioxidants and on the other hand low in fructose.

As far as energy density, i.e. calories, is concerned, you have the choice. I give you two options. One with an average energy density and a high-calorie variant.

It's full of power.

So, get your food processor or stick blender, the following ingredients and let's get started. You don‘t have to follow exactly. You can use the ingredients according to your feelings as well.

  • 170g fresh or frozen spinach
  • 1 piece of avocado, approx. 20 g
  • 100g pineapple, preferably fresh, in any case without added sugar
  • 150g cucumber
  • 40g parsley
  • 1 large piece of ginger, 15g
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed oil I know not everyone likes that, but it provides an enormous amount of omega 3 fatty acids and you hardly taste it in this recipe
  • water as needed

into the mix.

If you want more calories add more

  • 1 large tablespoon of nut butter of your choice (e.g. almond butter has a rather neutral taste, hazelnut butter, peanut butter that has an intense taste or cashew butter that also has a rather neutral taste,...).   • - 1 large tablespoon cocoa into the mixer.

What do I mean

The great advantage of a smoothie is that you can prepare it in the way that is easiest for you to swallow.
You can mix a smooth, thin or thick drink or a kind of cream or pudding for spooning (especially with nut butter and cocoa it tastes incredibly delicious, like chocolate ice cream).

Especially if you are losing weight and have little strength to eat/ swallow, the high-calorie version for spooning is very suitable for you.
